I'm asking for input about getting new street tires for the Turbo Rx7. I have had the Fuzion ZRi's for a couple of years and liked them just fine. I only did one event on them, the went to r-comps, but did do a serious race alignment, and forgot to put it back before street driving and at em up (1/4"toe out, max neg camber) and need some new meats. I'm a cheap ass, (2-kids, wife, need I explain more), don't care about winter performance or tread life, 10k is ok with me. I need something that does well in the rain, and can handle aggressive driving when necessary. Tires I have looked at;Falken 452, 512 (have these on gsl-se), Toyo Proxes 4, Yoko s-drive, or at the ZRi's again. Let me know what y'all think. Lookin for 225-50-16's, or 225-40-16's. up to $130 each. - Thanks in advance for the help.

ZRis = 90
Star Specs & XS's were only $20+ per tire (about the same as the Proxes for, I think)

I had The Toyo R28 on the miata (stock), which I think are basically the old Proxes 4. I hated them, but take that for what you want. I went to the MX, and those felt better. It could been getting rid of an old tire, but who  knows.
I know alot of miata.net uses the S-drives, but most of them don't know what "grip" is, so I'm a little jaded on that tire, having no real world experience.
I will say I was surprised how balanced the ZRi's felt at the last event.
I have no experience with the Falken's listed.

My vote is still XS's since they are about the same price as the Proxes. They meet your budget.

Hancook Ventus R-S2 all the way!

They've got plenty of tread for the wet, quite a bit of grip when it's dry and they're on closeout at TireRack for $68 in a 225/50ZR16.   Grin

Look in the latestes issue of sports car.  They have a ST Tire shootout that is very informative.

Adam as you know my Falken 912's have worked fine for me on all the years I have used them.

Are you going to use these to compete on? or are they for both? or just for street?

Just for street the 912's are perfect.

As a use for both street and autox they aren't too bad....remember I ran 2 seasons in a row with them on the sebring with decent grip but nothing to complain or brag about.

For auto-x only....may I suggest something else. Lol

I've also been happy with the the RS2.  ...but I've also been happy with the couple sets of Falken Azenis RT-615.

I must have glanced over the $130 each segment you put in your message lol.

There are a lot of tires, many whom have posted already on here for less than that in that size even.

An alternative to tire-rack is discount tire direct...they have great prices and free shipping. You could use that free shipping for the mounting.

If you limit is $130.
I would go with the Hankook R-S3 1st, Kumho XS 2nd and then the Star Spec 3rd
On tirerack  at a 225/50-16 the R-S3 $112, XS is $114 and the Star Spec is $111

Look at the results at nats in the ST classes. If cost didn't matter it's would be the bridgestone, then the Toyo.
The XS's love the heat like the MX's.

I was glad to see the RS3 do well in the ST tire shootout. I am considering a set of those in 225/45-15 for my car. I wanted the RS2 in the same size, but they seem to be history.
