This is a comparison of a STU car running a 52 flat and what time each class would have to run to tie that time, 2010 vs. 2009.

I'd be equally interested in seeing a comparasion chart showing the PAX time of each class based on a standard time, say the same 52 second time. 2010 & 2009. That would show where the biggest changes happen.
For instance in CSP a 52 second run would PAX as 44.876 in 2010, and 44.824 in 2009. A difference of .052 (ironic, huh?)....

I did. I was just saying it would be equally interesting to see a chart showing the PAX times for each class using a stanardized time then applying the PAX index, to show what the same actual time would yeild each class. I don't want to take the time to create such a chart, if one already exists.....

As for the PAX numbers, it looks like everything except GS and SM recieved a higher index. Those 2 classes actually recieved a lower multiplier. As always, AM stays at 1.0. Some classes took a bigger hit than others, but the most favorable adjustment was GS, going from .821 to .812

Ok, now I see how that chart is setup. each number refers to what each class would need to match the AM time (43.888).
Not quite the same as I thought. I thought it was saying the STU time was after the PAX index was applied......

Rick Ruth made the point on SCCAForums that everything hangs on A-Mod to set the index with a value of 1, which leaves PAX reliant on an extreme, lightly-subscribed class. I ran their start at Nationals once, and it wasn't a big group. If you campaigned an AM car all year, you could have a tangible effect on the index!
