Slalom technique

So I'm much better at slaloms thanks to the driving school (Which was really fun), but I was wondering if there's any difference when there's the three cone set up. Visualizing it, it seems you'd have to adjust for the extra cones but I don't really know.

It really depends on what is before and after the slalom. With a short slalom you don't have a chance to into a rythem. So the way that you attack the slalom then depends heavily on what surrounds it. If you have a straight in and straight out approach and exit, then you will want to take it in a similar way to the long slalom at the school. If you have a tight approach and an open exit, then you will have a slow in, fast out strategy and you are essentially accelerating all the way through the slalom. There are many ways to introduce a slalom in an autocrosser course, and they all depend on what is directly around them as to how you should successfully navigate them.

That'll help alot lol hadn't thought about the after part, probably wouldn't want to exit a slalom flatout with a hairpin right after. But I was talking more about the slaloms with three cones set up instead of one, I can't visualize turning as soon as I did on the practice slalom and not hitting the next set. So I was wondering if you do just have to go through those slower to allow for a wider arch.

Under that circumstance, you basically ignore the 2 cones on the inside of the row, and focus on the outside cones, treating as an offset slalom. So, yes, a slower speed is pretty much required, unless the spacing is quite vast.

Found you some good video to watch! Notice how the driver is turning the car before the slalom cones.

Thx alot. It'll probably be hard to think about turning at the last cone in a race, but that's part of it. I know this whole season I was starting my turn at the first one and making a shallow arc to the last one.
