A size that fits. Lol

Stick with 17's(since they come in that size stock) There is really no point in getting bigger size ones for your car. a 17x7.5 or 17x8 would probably be all you need.

Since they said you might be classed in STU, the biggest tire you can run is a 245 series tire. So if you do a 245 series tire then the 245/45R17 or 245/40R17 will be great.

Also, being classed in STU means you will need to have street tires. So nothing under 120 tread wear rating. Good tires to look at are the Dunlop Star Spec, Falken R615 and Bridgestone umm...RE11 i think.(the bridgestone tire is probably wrong but somebody will post after me to correct me).

Look for some decently light wheels. you can find wheels at:
www.discounttiredirect.com
or
www.tirerack.com

About the only place your car would be really competitive would be DS (debatable statement). You would need to put your stock rear sway back on and put your grill back stock.  Then you would need wheels that are stock size (dia. and width) and you can change the offset by 1/4" if you want.

The GR STi in STU runs a 18x9.5 and a 245 width tire with 140 treadwear. I don't know how that would go without the flares. You can also put on a downpipe and go stage 2!

The WRX goes to BSP in street prepared.  Pretty much the same mods as STU, except you can run whatever width of R Comp tire you want.

You can modify your car however you want and just run whatever class you end up in, you'll still have fun. But if you want to be competitive I suggest you go to scca.com and read the rule book.   I just hate to see it when people blow a ton of extra money just to get an extra pound lighter wheel thinking they will be competitive when their car isn't built for the class they are in, or they have an uncompetitive car for their class.

Just come out and drive on your stock wheels and tires and see what you think. It will take a few thousand miles off of your tires, but you won't miss them.  Wink

Some coilovers and a bit of camber you should be able to fit a 245 without touch the fenders.
I have seen GR STI with coilovers, a bit a camber and rolled lips run 285s.
The big difference between STU and BSP is tires and you have unlimited boost but only with the stock turbo.

Nice!!! Great choice. I have been looking at those wheels for the RS in a 17x9 or those. I would suggest a 17x9 with a 245/40-17. Less weight and rotational mass.

These are nice as well, copy of a Prodrive wheel.  They come in a variety of colors too.
