This is relevant to my interests.
Kind of curious as to what you've found and what you're planning.
The FWD SR20 U13 Altimas used a hydraulic-actuated version of the cable-actuated manual that was sold on a decade's worth of USDM cars. The '00-'01 B15 Sentra SE 2.0 and '00-02 P11 G20 had a slightly stronger, factory hydraulic manual. The rare manual 2.0 Performance Package and G20 '00-'01 touring/ '02 Sport had a VLSD, and both B15 and P11 had 4x114.3 hubs. Are you looking at those?

Is there a FWD Nissan (JDM) that came with the SR20DET?
I thought you couldn't use the SR20DET out of a RWD and plant it in a FWD or am I missing something.

Mid-engine LS1 for back wheels, SR20DET for front wheels, yo.

All SR20DET's were either factory RWD or AWD. A shame, because the FWD SR series transmissions - moreso '91-'99 than '00-'02 - aren't exactly cut out to take a lot of boost.
The AWD cars had transversely-mounted engines, which means they're far easier to put in a FWD car. All the accessories point the right direction, and the FWD transmission bolts right up. In fact, the most common JDM donor for FWD cars is the AWD turbo version of the Altima sold overseas, the Bluebird SSS.
RWD SR20DETs use coil packs instead of distributor, and the RWD DE's have the distributor on the front of the engine instead of the back. The intake manifold is also backwards, and the exhaust manifold points the turbo at an odd angle for a FWD car.

I've seen very few FWD trans that can handle boost. Even the current generation of factory boosted FWD cars tend to have trans issues at some point.
Heck, even many RWD trans have a hard time dealing with boost.
Sure, any trans may hold up to a boosted engine for a short time, but in the end, most succomb to the pressure.
Boost is nice, but it can sure decrease the lifespan of drivetrain components.....
Be that as it may, I'd still love to see a SR20DET Altima.

So here is what I have. SR20Store has these for $1400, with ECU, and electronics, not tranny

If you haven't already pulled the trigger, run your plans by this guy:
http://www.andreasmiko.com/
If it involves a SR-series engine, he's had it, sold it, built it, or swapped it.

Still in disassembly stage.
have gotten the basic stuff off. I think it is about ready for the big pull, just deciding if I go bottom out, or try to get the CV's off and go out the top.
Where is that damn lift when you need it.
Not sure if the big pull will happen on Sat or if I will be working on Frank.........

Drop the engine and tranny as a unit out the bottom on a Harbor Freight furniture dolly (have spares if you want to borrow). Honestly, it goes as fast as using a lift. Thread the engine mount bolts - good hard points - and lift the front of the car with the engine crane and load leveler.
Everything rolls out of the way, ready for new SR20. Easy button.

Get both engines so we can stick one in the Altima and one in Jim's Sentra or G20.

Would love to but I am in the middle of rebuilding TomTom's STI motor. Need to get this done soon.
