I stumbled across a short article on the Tulsa World mobile website. It's in the very early stages, but that would be very cool to have them run down there. http://mobile.tulsaworld.com/article.aspx?articleID=20100309_11_0_OKLAHO539795&subjectID=latest

I saw this a couple days ago. They want to have it in BrickTown. Undecided
I say do it at the fair ground and repave the route.

First the NBA, then a street circuit like Long Beach? OKC could become the Los Angeles of Oklahoma!

Just wait, it's getting there already. Bricktown is NOT the place to be after dark.

I'm definitely in if it comes. I went to Mid Ohio and saw an ALMS race in 2005ish. It was pretty cool. I think this might be the only time you'll see ALL the teams run full soft, wear mouth gaurds, and sit on pillows as they drive. Reminds of a street race a few years ago that was so rough in knocked the main harness loose in one of the CTS-Vs.

THat sounds like the Houston Gran Prix. That track was super rough.

I have seen ALMS at Road America in Wisconsin(supported by the Speed World Challenge that weekend) in 2006

and saw them in the Streets of St. Petersburg last year(thanks to my friend who is in the Coast Guard).

Loved both races. If they were to ever come here I would be at the track every day!

sad....we have newer/smoother roads in downtown Tulsa that this could be used for.  I was actually hoping their council wouldn't pass this negotiation resolution so Tulsa could pick it up and go for it.  Tulsa would have been a much more attractive venue for an ALMS street circuit.  They spend all that money on downtown Tulsa and then just piss it away.

I work with people that are terrified of downtown Tulsa at night as well, so who knows?

Worst I've ever encountered being downtown (in Tulsa) at night is seeing a few bums walking around, but I've never been bothered by one.

The Home Depot on 11th? Been asked multiple times for money in that parking lot.

I used to go to McNellies once a week, and the bums were always coming up asking for money. Downtown Tulsa is very similar to Bricktown in OKC. I have no desire to go into either place, light or dark.
At one time, I know bricktown had a crime problem after dark. They may have resolved most of the issue, but I still care to go there.

However, if the AMLS were to make OKC a stop on their circuit, I'd go. Heck, I'd even go if it were held in downtown tulsa.......

I've never had a problem in Bricktown or downtown Tulsa, I live downtown and walk to restraunts, bars, concerts, sporting events but I can't tell you how many of my friends were afraid to walk around until they realized that the other people walking around were just that, other people walking around

In down town TUlsa....just don't go North of 244. lol

Its not so bad in downtown. There are a few spots to avoid but those places aren't near the popular bars and clubs.

I assume the same for Bricktown.

McNellies is not in Bricktown. It's NNE of the center of downtown next to St. Anthony's Hospital. Bricktown is a lot better then it used to be back in the mid to late 90's but way better then DT Tulsa. They have cleaned it up and with the addition of all the businesses there. You can give lots of people out there after mid night.
